【摘要】:ThisPartofBS6779specifiesrequirementsforthedesignandconstructionofcombinedconcreteandmetalparapetstoprovidespecifiedlevelsofcontainmentforvehiclesonhighways.Normalcontainmentparapetshaveconcretepanelheightsof0.4mto0.8mwithone,twoorthreeeffectivelongitudinalmetalmembers.Highcontainmentparapetshaveapanelheightof0.9mandasinglemetal,effective,longitudinalmember.Themetalmembersarecarriedonmetalpostsattachedtotheconcretepanelswhichmaybeinsituorprecast,withorwithoutsheartransfer.PrestressedconcreteandparapetsdesignedtoactcompositelywiththemainstructurearenotcoveredinthisPartofBS6779.
